No More PB&J! 15 Tasty School Lunches

After a few times of PB&J for lunch, kids start getting fed up and wanting something more. Thanks to these 15 tasty school lunches, your kids will have plenty to enjoy without having to worry about the same thing from one day to the next.

1. BLT Wraps

Take a wrap and top it with crumbled bacon, thin lettuce and chopped tomatoes. Add in a splash of mustard or mayo to top it off, or you can opt to leave it plain. Roll your wrap up and secure it with parchment paper to make sure none of the goodies fall out.


2. Turkey Salad Roll

Combine toasted almonds, diced turkey, celery thinly sliced, seedless red grapes cut in half and mayo. Transfer the mixture into a container. Pack it with a hot dog bun for your little one to assemble, or you can opt to have it assembled yourself beforehand.


3. The Elvis Burrito

Take some peanut butter and spread it onto a toasted wrap. Sprinkle some crumbled bacon on it. Drizzle some honey. Slice a banana and scatter the pieces around on the wrap. Roll it up and secure it with parchment paper.


4. Turkey & Cheese Pita Pocket

Using a whole wheat pita, spread some creamy cheese inside. Fill it up with spinach leaves, roasted turkey slices and cucumber slices.


5. Asparagus & Gruyere Panini

Take a large tortilla shell and top it with Gruyere cheese seasoned with some pepper. Layer some asparagus on the shell. On half of the shell, drizzle it with a lemon juice. Fold your shell to close it up. Cook the Panini using a hot skillet or a Panini press until the outside is golden and the cheese has melted.


6. BBQ Chicken Sloppy Joes

Toss together shredded chicken, chopped tomatoes, carrots and BBQ sauce. Heat everything together. Add some parsley and transfer your mix to a container for your child to assemble later on a hamburger bun. You can always prepare it yourself and have it ready for them in the container also.


7. Chips and Dips

Combine together lime juice, fresh tomatoes, chopped cilantro and chopped onions. Pack some tortilla chips to go with the salsa.


8. Mini Bagel Breakfast Sandwich

Using a toasted mini bagel, spread some cream cheese on the bottom. Add on some Canadian bacon, slice of tomato and scrambled eggs. Spread additional cream cheese on the top part of the bagel. Wrap it up for a tasty school lunch.


9. Shrimp Rolls

Combine mayo, lemon juice, tarragon, black pepper, chopped celery and cooked shrimp. Transfer your mix to a container with a hit dog bun for your child to assemble later on at school.


10. Meatball Sandwich

Warm some frozen meatballs together in a jar of tomato sauce. Transfer the mixture to a wide thermos. Place a piece of cheese and a hamburger bone for lunch assembly.


11. Chicken Soft Tacos

Place lemon juice and mashed avocados in a container. Top it off with shredded cheese before you seal it up. Fill two of the smaller tortilla shells with shredded chicken and sliced lettuce before putting them in a plastic bag. Your child can finish assembling them at lunch.


12. Waldorf Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Mix shredded chicken, walnuts, raisins, chopped celery and apples and mayo. On the cut side of a hamburger bun, spread some mayo and assemble the sandwich using the mix and some lettuce leaves.


13. Italian Hero

Toss sliced lettuce with mayo and mustard. Assemble the sandwich on a hoagie roll using salami, turkey, provolone, tomatoes and the lettuce mix.


14. Roast Beef Pita Pockets

Take a pita pocket and spread mayo inside of it. Fill it up with roast beef, cheese and coleslaw bought from the store.


15. Ham & Cheese Quesadillas

Using a tortilla, spread mustard on it. Top it with slices of ham and cheese. Add some spinach leaves. Fold the shell and cook it until the tortilla is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Allow it to cool before cutting and packing for lunch.
